Look In The Mirror...That's Your Competition
/Have you ever heard the quote, "Comparison is the thief of joy." This rings true to me today more than ever! Is it just me or does it feel like social media has made it nearly impossible to get through your day without comparing yourself to other women or men that look like they've "made it." I have touched on this briefly before via Instagram but I think it's important to discuss this further. Why are we letting these illusions create insecurities within us? We need to stop letting instagram or social media depress us. People fall every day for what they see online that they start to think that their own lives are inadequate. This is really sad. I couldn't even imagine growing up as a teenager trying to live a normal life this way. Lets encourage each other to stop comparing ourselves to controlled online content. You don't know their story, you don't know their struggles, and you don't know the pain they hide. Reality definitely isn't as pretty. I mean, you should see how many selfies I take before I pick one that is "decent" and then I stare at it long enough only to decide that it may or may not make the cut. Who am I actually trying to impress here? Worth shouldn't be measured in likes, comments, or followers. Liking the person you are on the inside is the real prize. Don’t be afraid to fail and remember that it’s okay to not be perfect because mistakes mean that you are trying. I now realize that every time I thought that I was being rejected from something good, I was actually being re-directed to something better. The biggest hurdle is rejection. Any new adventure (like this blog) you start be ready for it. The difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is that the successful do all the things the unsuccessful people don’t want to do. When ten doors are slammed in your face, go to door 11 enthusiastically, and with a smile on your face. It only takes one person to change your life: YOU. Keep moving forward! Don't keep comparing yourself to others because your differences are what make you unique and beautiful. I am so eager to experience new challenges. I believe that future success comes with everyday excellence and consistency.
